Hello! Let me take you on an exciting journey into the world of hemp farming. The 11th International Hemp Building Symposium, which will be held on 10. and October 11 in Amsterdam, has some interesting topics on the agenda.

Carbon credits and hemp farming

A central theme of this year’s symposium is carbon credits and their importance to the hemp farming sector. Nando Knodel, co-founder of HempConnect from Hamburg, will address this topic on the first day of the symposium. He recently published a paper on “Carbon in Hemp,” suggesting that the current lack of certified carbon credits presents an opportunity for hemp.

New technologies and products

The symposium will also feature presentations on research science, new technologies and products, and hemp cultivation projects. There are also presentations on hemp panels for the construction industry by experts such as Robert Schwemmer, Remi Loren and Chloe Donovan.

Practical demonstrations

There will also be exciting equipment demonstrations. For example, Kristaps Eglitas will present the HurdMaster MD1000Air, a micro-decorator he developed that is sold worldwide. Damien Baumer will demonstrate a hempcrete spraying machine.

Excursion to the hemp concrete project

A special highlight will be a trip to the massive hempcrete casting project at Voorst City Hall in Twello, Netherlands.

Steve Allin and the IHBA

Steve Allin, the director of the International Hemp Building Association (IHBA), created the IHBA and serves as its director. He has been building with hemp and promoting its use in construction around the world for the past 20 years.

That’s it from my side! The Hemp Building Symposium promises to be an enlightening event that bridges the gap between hemp, science and technology. Are you ready to learn more about the many ways hemp can be used in construction?
